“Reggae and dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla popularly known in showbiz circles as ‘Stonebwoy’ has been arrested by the Police.
It follows the fracas that occurred between Stonebwoy and Shata Wale at the Ghana Music Awards.
It started when Stone Bwoy was called up the stage to receive the award for ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year’ during last Saturday’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Citi News sources say the Police has also invited Shatta Wale over the incident.”
Me: I know they will let him go but this arrest is important, demonstrating that Ghana is not a jungle.
Those calling for the arrest of Shatta Wale, what was his legal crime? Nothing prohibits him from walking onto the stage in law, even if we find it inappropriate.
But the law prohibits public display of gun, which Stonebwoy is in violation.
Think about this too: who allowed the gun to be taken into the auditorium?
For those who despise common sense and are only interested in the law, Section 7 (1) of Ghana’s Arms And Ammunition Act – 1972 (NRCD 9) states that, “No person shall, except in accordance with the terms of a permit granted under this Decree or with the written consent of the Inspector-General of Police, publicly display any arms or ammunition (including explosives) or discharge any firearm or other weapon in any public place.”
