According to one of the prostitutes, she would go hungry if she doesn’t find men who are interested in her on the streets of Sierra Leone.
”They would take me back to their homes, have sex with me the whole day and give me 5,000 Leones ($0.57),” she said.
She revealed that she was fourteen (14) years old when she started sleeping with men on the streets because her mother had thrown her out of her house simply because she can’t afford to take good care of her.
According to one of the prostitute they went into prostitution because their parents keep calling them bastards and they couldn't take care of them any longer so they had to survive on their own. She went on to say they sometimes meet nice men and they confess to them that they are ready to stop doing the prostitution job and settle down so if the men could help, some of the men will take them in and then just sleep with them for free but throw them out in a week or two, if you try convincing them to allow you to stay they start beating you and Maltreating you.
More and more Prostitute emerged in Freetown after the Ebola crisis because in one way or the Other their parents died and they had no one to take care of them and the only available means to make money is to sell themselves to men before they can be able to eat.
They went on to say they feel happy if their able to get atleast seven to eight men in a night. But if you want to sleep without condom you will pay Le50000 ($5.60) and with condom is Le25000 ($3.30).
she has two younger sisters and she's the one that take care of them and she the one who pays their school fees through her prostitution work. when asked if she will let her two sisters indulge in such activity and answered no but that the main reason why she's paying their school fees now.
